LEATHER AND LACE.

What a wonderful weekend it was- I think I have a case of the Monday blues every week!

We had lots of delicious food, I got 6 loads of laundry done (that was a feat for me!), spent time with family, shopping, and movie watching. Three days of lazing bliss. I have been oh so very unmotivated lately- it may be because of my crazy work schedule, but I am just obsessing about spending quality time with the mister and not a lot else. I can't remember the last time I picked up a craft project or even perused for inspiration. Dry spell maybe?

But fear not, I mustered enough strength to put a decent outfit together for you all :) I really love this top- the feminine chiffon with the leather trim is a contrast I rather enjoy. Oh, and the back of this lace blazer? Makes me happy, I love the pleated detail.

It was a beautiful sunset that night- it really made me want to have a sunset picnic soon!

SATURDAY.

Today we finally had our garage sale after putting it off for weeks for one reason or another. It was actually a pretty slow day but the people who did wander through our sale went all mushy for Stella and exhausted this poor little lady out. As I type this she is resting her head on my knee and snoring away :)

To celebrate a decent sale tonight we are going to dinner and  movie, I am pretty excited. We haven't had a proper date night in a few weeks- Moonrise Kingdom has finally come to a theater near us, I have been waiting for this movie.

LET THE PARTY START.

Today is the start of my weekend and I plan on spending as much time with these two as possible. The past two weeks have been nothing but work craziness, catching up on z's and trying to make it to this weekend. I have a sneaking suspicion its going to be a good one :)

BIG KIDS NOW.

We finally got big kid phones! And how fun is this clear case? I love getting to decorate it any way I want. However, I do have my eye on some other cases on ebay- so cheap!

FAUX INK.

This is the closest you will see me come to actually getting inked. My irrational fear of needles prohibits me and my self professed fickle-ness, I just don't know if I could ever commit to anything! So this press on did just fine, plus it was glittery and smelled like blueberries for the first few days.

I have also found myself in the cross roads of bangs or no bangs again- every few months I debate this. Decisions Decisions.

This week I am working 5am mornings and its kind of kicking my bum- heading to bed around 8:30pm with the sun still shining is weird! The pay off though? I am two days away from a 3 day weekend :)

BIRDS OF A FEATHER.

I am such a sucker for animal motif tops- especially little birdies. I didn't want to make it too typical so I paired it with my favorite pair of acid wash denim... I liked the peach color against them and want to play with the peach/gray color combo so more!

Little miss priss up here used to be such an angel about taking pictures... she would even pose for us but lately she has thrown an attitude and refuses to look at the camera. Such a stinker ;)

I hope your Sunday was fabulous- I worked this morning, we spent time with family, and we finished up an art project for the kitchen. As soon as we have all the boxes for our garage sale cleared out I want to snap some photos of our newly refinished dining room and other small home decor projects!

SOME NEW THINGS.

Some new things ... Blush flats and Heart sweatshirt, Forever 21; Go Overboard and Devil's Advocate polish by Essie; iPhone.

We finally upgraded our phones, and I couldn't resist treating myself to a mani/pedi after my work week. And the heart sweatshirt? Hello, it has a giant heart on it.

Well I am off to unpack and spend some quality time with my little family ... and maybe have a mini marathon of Pretty Little Liars, is anyone else obsessed with this show?? So addicting!

I am back from Miami- I have finally caught up on my sleep (if that's possible). This trip was for work but I did manage to squeeze in a few hours at the beach and acquire quite the sun burn ... oops!

LEAVING ON A JET PLANE.

Early tomorrow I hop on a plane heading to Miami, Florida! But before you get jealous, I am going for work and there won't be a whole lotta sightseeing or beach bumming- but none-the-less, it IS Miami, Florida.

MAKEUP FAVORITES: MASCARA.

If I could only have one thing in my makeup bag for the rest of forever it would be mascara! I have always been what can only be called a 'mascara junkie'. These are the three you can find on my table right now- Buxom is amazing because it gives a light sheen and adds great lengths to my lashes, Maybellines Mega Plush adds the volume without the clumps and the waterproof is a must for hot days outside and going to the pool. Maybellines Falsies is adds length and volume so its the love child of the other two for sure- layering this mascara on for a date night gives you eyes that 'pow'!

WHEN LIFE HANDS YOU LEMONS.

You know, in the grand scheme of things we (Nate and I) lead a pretty cushy non-dramatic life. So when life does hand us lemons, the grateful thing to do is to make lemonade out of them because really, the problems we face are pretty minimal to those that some others do. I have been feeling pretty bogged down with having to make some serious decisions lately, decisions that will change the shape of our little lives for an indefinite amount of time.

And that's why you go on brunch dates and enjoy the little things that you have been blessed with.

And wear tank tops with lemons on them ;)

MAKEUP FAVORITES: REVLON.

I am not a makeup snob- if I like it, I will buy it regardless of brand. These are some of my Revlon favorites, all are under $8 and perfectly fabulous!

Just Bitten Kissable Lip stain in Darling- This lip stain goes on purplish and glossy and leaves your lip soft and a berry-ish color as it wears. Its as good as chapstick and has a minty tingle when you apply it- love!


PhotoReady cream blush in Flushed 200- goes on smooth and lasts longer than a powder blush. You can put it on thin for a tint or layer it on for the perfect pinky glow.


Matte Lipstick in Wine Not- I am really excited about dark lipsticks for fall, its so 90's angst-y. I purchased this color last fall and love it for its bold perfect shade of burgundy.


ColorStay Liquid Eyeliner in Blackest Black- I have been doing liquid cat eye liner since I was in the eighth grade and I have made my way through dozens of brands but I always go back to this one, it has a felt tip for easy control and deposits the perfect amount of color.

HOME.

We are homebodies. We love being home and making it a place we want to spend all of our time. This past week we mega-purged, reorganized, and upgraded some furniture all in preparation for a garage sale that didn't happen (yet!) ... we couldn't stand the thought of sitting outside in 110 degree weather.

ITS BEEN A LITTLE QUIET.

I guess it has been pretty quiet around here- things have been so busy that the internet in its entirety have been on the back burner. Not one to make excuses since we all have loads on our daily plates, but I have no idea where this week has gone so far!

Gearing up for a pretty big garage sale at my parents this weekend is eating up a lot of my time. For just being the mister and me we sure have accumulated a lot of things in our 3 years of married life and its time for a major purge. But more on that later.

I suspect it will be pretty quiet until Sunday- I have loads of pictures waiting for edits to share fun things like outfits and makeup and nail art (its really an obsession now!) so stay tuned.

To all my readers in the US of A- Happy Independence day, I hope its was full of hamburgers, hot dogs, lemonade, and fireworks! (isn't that what the 4th is all about?)

HERS AND HIS STYLE: HOT SUMMER DAYS.

I almost never wear shorts. But then- its almost never over 100 degrees in these parts.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

I love the new trend popping up with pretty little details on the collars. An easy way to change any blouse into a trendier bejeweled option simple attach earrings to the ends of your collar! I did this on a cotton blouse where the earrings could fit more easily through the fibers- a chiffon version may snag.

3 TIPS.

I own a lot of clothing. And I regularly purchase new items- so if I kept everything I ever bought our whole apartment would be a closet! I started re-selling my clothing in college and have learned a few tricks of the trade for making sure I get the most out of it!

1. Presentation- This part is super important! Make sure that the clothing you are selecting to sell are clean, as wrinkle free as possible, buttoned up if it buttons, zipped, and any belts tied or buckled. I always have to check for puppy fur, no one wants to handle clothes covered in some unknown pets fur. Take the time to fold the garments and make sure you aren't throwing things in that have stains or holes. If you take the time to edit and make your clothing presentable the store will be more inclined to purchase. Show that you care and they will care!

2. Frequent the same shop- I try and go to the same shop every time. I go to the clothing chain Plato's Closet to sell, and though they have locations close to my home I still frequent the one I started going to in college. Most of the staff there recognizes me and knows I always bring in quality items, we have built a buyer/seller relationship that works in everyones favor!

3. Reciprocate the business- As much as you like to make money off of your clothes the business wants to make money as well! Even though I sell clothes to make money I make sure to look around and see if there isn't something that I would like. Showing that you are a buyer as much as a seller enforces a good relationship with that business.

This all may seem kind of silly but it really works! You will see a much better return for your items by taking a few extra minutes to do these things.
