GO GREEN.

I am really excited because I just signed up on practicallygreen.com! One of my goals on my 25 before 26 list is to adopt three greener practices and I was fumbling around unsure of what I could do- but this site makes it super simple. You start by taking a quiz that shows you how green your daily practices already are, and then you can create action plans, get tips and advice, and hear about others experiences with their adventures in going green. This week I am going to finish changing out our light bulbs to be all energy efficient and turn down the thermostat on the water heater (once I figure out how!). I think my goal of just 3 things is going to be a little easier than expected and I have a feeling I will be surpassing!

COMING SOON.

Nate and I had a serious sit down about our shop- what was working, what wasn't, were we still passionate about it? Why were we not staying as motivated anymore? and truth be told, I just really don't want to sell vintage anymore. It was fun for awhile but I believe I have started to out grow it. So the next question was, what next?

I have wanted to create an accessory line since college. I have always liked the unusual- the pop of wow to an outfit. I like things over-sized. I like things to be different. So I am happy to say that this week I started the ground work for doing just that, launching my very own accessory collection that is true to me, and I am so excited! Above are two prototypes I have been working on. Sourcing materials, inspirations, creating patterns ... its all so exciting and exactly what I have been looking for!

So if the shop looks kind of deserted these days its because we cleaned out and are starting a new chapter. I will be sharing this little adventure with you as I dive into it head first!

FRIDAY 13.

Every Friday at work we have a 'Fashion Friday' theme, cute right? So this week we chose the trend of neons and neutrals because, well, neons are fun and we love them with neutrals! So I paired my hot pink tank with a beige sweater and popped in my hot pink hair extension for good measure. So here are 13 pictures of what we wore today ... I didn't even plan it, I swear!

I am really hoping for some good thunderstorms this weekend- I have heard that the midwest has seen some good ones and I want in on the action! I love a cozy Saturday in, with coffee and crafting and my two favorite people (er, person and pup, whatevs).

The mister just came home with a pizza- so we are going to kick back, watch some TV and enjoy a night in!

LET THE SUN SHINE.

Happy Thursday! I hope your day was a good one? Tonight the mister and I actually cooked our dinner- this is surprisingly a rare occurrence. Probably should be better about it but you know, sometimes cooking is the last thing you want to do after work. And I always seem to be missing like, one key ingredient for whatever recipe I choose. Maybe its a curse?

But enough ramblings about cooking. I know I have said it before and I will say it again, I am so so glad to have resumed our evening walks in this warmer weather! The sunshine was so pretty today and the grass is starting to grow in and trees have leaves all of a sudden- so cheerful :)

DIY: NOTEBOOK POUCH.

I carry a lot of notebooks with me in my purse on a daily basis- my idea journal, my art journal, and my to-do list journal. With all the journals and pens floating around I was really wanting a carry-all case for them and couldn't find anything on the market that I liked. So I decided to make one! I constructed mine out of some upholstery fabric I had left over from another project since it was more sturdy for the wear and tear I anticipate for it.

Supplies you will need: Fabric, scissors, thread, needle, embroidery thread, and a button. I cut my fabric at 12.5 inches x 11 inches. I used my largest notebook as a size guide. Sew into a pouch with the fabric inside out so the raw edges are hidden and hem the top. Make a closure flap with a 4 inch x 2 inch piece of fabric and use embroidery thread to hem and add a decorative touch. Cut a button hole and line up with your button. And there you have it!

A GREAT CAUSE.

We have a really amazing animal shelter here in Dayton. SICSA provides a safe place, foster care, and gives these animals a chance to move on into happy homes without the fear of being euthanized. I, myself, have had pets adopted through this organization and right now they are up to win $100K from the Rachel Ray Challenge. Think of all the animals that can be saved by just a single vote! No money involved, just a vote. And right now SICSA of Kettering is in second place, so please, just take a moment to help a great cause!
