A HAPPY ANNIVERSARY.

June is a big month for us at camp Hers and His! Not only is it the one year anniversary for Hers and His but the mister and I are celebrating 3 years of married bliss. I wanted to share the love with you all and on June 20, a capsule collection of dip dyed lace bow ties are landing in the shop!

PROGRESS.

Making great progress over the past few days on the accessory line! I am getting more excited about it everyday and wish June 1st was closer. But then, I would probably be in a panic because there is still a lot to do.

This past weekend I completed my fabric selections and carefully chose what fabrics to feature in the Summer 2012 line. I completed all of the fabric preparations and even started production on some of the pieces. The prototypes have been completed and I will definitely be wearing them around for the next few weeks, I love every single one! This first collection is going to focus more on soft goods, such as hair bows, bow ties, rosette pins, and working on developing a tie for the guys! I am already scheming up the next collection and what other mediums I want to explore.

Oh, and dying over the lace bow right now- I think it might be my favorite :)

COMING SOON.

Nate and I had a serious sit down about our shop- what was working, what wasn't, were we still passionate about it? Why were we not staying as motivated anymore? and truth be told, I just really don't want to sell vintage anymore. It was fun for awhile but I believe I have started to out grow it. So the next question was, what next?

I have wanted to create an accessory line since college. I have always liked the unusual- the pop of wow to an outfit. I like things over-sized. I like things to be different. So I am happy to say that this week I started the ground work for doing just that, launching my very own accessory collection that is true to me, and I am so excited! Above are two prototypes I have been working on. Sourcing materials, inspirations, creating patterns ... its all so exciting and exactly what I have been looking for!

So if the shop looks kind of deserted these days its because we cleaned out and are starting a new chapter. I will be sharing this little adventure with you as I dive into it head first!

3 TIPS.

Some people are blessed enough to have gotten out of the daily grind of corporate life and focus solely on their craft and business. But for the rest of us who still depend on a bread and butter job, have our side business, and want to keep plenty of family time in the schedule, juggling it all can be tricky. If I have learned anything from my 9-5 though, its time management- and until a few months ago I never realized that time management is extremely important in all aspects of our daily life. Here are three tips I have found to help me make time for everything ...

1. Keep work at work: This can be hard, but once you step through your front door, leave your 9-5 on the welcome mat. Your time is too precious to your own growth, creativity, and productivity towards your side business once you are home.

2. Keep a Schedule: Make to-do lists, have a calendar just for your business, and stick to it! Create deadlines that you can commit to and celebrate when you accomplish them! Remember not to over schedule and only set realistic goals, you could easily start to feel overwhelmed and that can squash creativity and your motivation.

3. Just like you take days off from your job, take days off from your business to focus only family and projects that are not business related. This will keep you fueled, help prevent you from feeling drained, and best of all, you can make amazing little memories with those you love :)

I LOVE JOURNALING.

I have the worst memory. Ever. Just ask Nate- I have a terrible habit of starting a sentence and forgetting the end half of it before can come out of my mouth. True story! And because of this terrible flaw I have taken up the habit of writing lists (I love it!) and journaling.

Yesterday I purchased this planner by Craft Inc. Meg Mateo Ilasco is an entrepreneurial genius. Nate and I have been talking a little about starting a new direction with our little business. We haven't invested much time in it lately but it is one thing that we really enjoy doing. So with this book we are hoping to really hash things out, start fresh, and start differently. Here are some peeks at the contents. There is even a place for to-do lists! Heaven!

BEST OF THE WEEK.

 Enjoying Fro' Yo' as much as possible and playing video games with my mister.

 Oh you know, just stylin' my barbies and celebrating birthdays.

 Pumpkins! And a mob of ducks kept us entertained.

 This little lady melts my heart every day. And this was the best weather forecast I had seen in a long while!

 Watching pretty purple sunsets and going out on dates with the best husbs ever :)

I have been eluding to a new project that I have been waiting to put into the shop ... well here is the official unofficial unveiling ha ha. I have a strange obsession with all things AirStream so one day I just sat down and started painting my dream trailer. Well that turned into 4 and now here we are. This week prints of these trailers will be available in the shop- I will post the official announcement on the day :) I am pretty excited to finally put some of my own creations in the shop and not just my vintage finds!
